CHΩROS Wins Interior Awards 2021 Silver Award

Choros Sifakis Architects

In a time where interior spaces became an integral part of everyone’s life, more than ever before, our team’s goal to design spaces offering pleasant experiences to their inhabitants became of outmost importance. This approach of ours is highlighted in our “Serifos Extended” project.

Located in the island of Serifos the project intends to create a new residential experience while providing high quality spaces to accompany people’s everyday moments. Our design concerns an autonomous guest house aiming to accompany a pre-existing residence, while remaining fully independent in use. With its design concept being inspired by the unique Cycladic landscape, and more specifically that of Serifos, the scheme acts as an example of “Serifian” vernacular architecture. The island’s textured rocks, abundant canes and characteristic rusty metal were the main materials used in the project’s conception. Through utilizing local materials for the caved guest house and incorporating a planted roof, we aim to blur the boundary between interior and exterior spaces offering a coherent and multisensory experience to the inhabitants.

Given the circumstances of our times we receive with even greater pride and joy our distinction for our “Serifos Extended” project in the Interior Awards 2021. Winning the Silver Award for the Residential New Experience – Under Construction category pushes our team to continue designing with zeal and enthusiasm for more, new and exciting projects to come.
